Thank you for your interest in Local Color, a community art exhibition at Satsuma Cafe, curated by Bywater resident and artist Jaclyn McCabe.
This exhibition was created to celebrate the artists who make our neighborhood such a vibrant place to live. If you live nearby, have a studio close by, or simply consider Satsuma your local coffee shop, we'd love to see your work.
Our hope is that this becomes the first of many neighborhood exhibitions, with new artwork rotating every quarter.
This isn't a call for New Orleans-themed art. We're not looking for paintings of shotgun houses, streetcars, or alligators. We're interested in something far more original—the incredible work being made right here, by the people who are part of this community.
Whether you're an emerging artist or have been exhibiting for years, we'd love to see what you've been creating. We can't wait to share the incredible talent that exists right here in our neighborhood.
Submission Guidelines
Open to artists who consider Satsuma Bywater their neighborhood coffee shop.
All wall-mounted artwork is welcome.
Maximum artwork size: 24 × 24 inches.
Submit up to 3 artworks.
Upload high-resolution JPEG images (minimum 2000 pixels on the longest side; 300 dpi recommended).
Artwork must arrive ready to hang by 10/2/26.
No submission fee.
Exhibition Details
Artists keep 100% of artwork sales.
Artists must have a Venmo account to receive payment.
Selected artists will receive professional installation photographs for their portfolio and personal promotion.
Selected artists are expected to help promote the exhibition by sharing it on their social media channels.
Artwork must arrive ready to hang by 10/2/26 (more info provided if accepted)
Artwork that hasn't sold will be de-installed in January 2026
Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee inclusion in the exhibition. Selected artists will be notified by email after the submission deadline.
